According to Deadline, comedian Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street, The Other Guys) has landed a starring role in a new multi-camera sitcom for Fox opposite Leah Remini (King of Queens) and Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia).
In the currently-untitled sitcom, Riggle will play Remini’s ex-husband, who lives with her and her new wife (Olson) while all three try to raise two kids.
The untitled sitcom is being created and written by Always Sunny co-creator Rob McElhenney and producer Rob Rossell. McElhenney is also joined by his Always Sunny collaborators Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton, who will serve as executive producers on the new show. The pilot is being filmed for midseason 2019 or beyond. This also marks Olson’s second run at a starring role on a FOX sitcom. Her previous show, The Mick, was canceled earlier this summer after two seasons.
Riggle is a frequent guest star on shows like Modern Family and Angie Tribeca. He also spent years as a correspondent for The Daily Show, along with a brief run on Saturday Night Live, and drew on his military background for the recent war drama 12 Strong. Riggle will next be seen on the big screen opposite Kevin Hart in Night School, and with Robert De Niro in The War with Grandpa.
