Planned for David Fincher to direct some time back, Edward Zwick has now taken the reins on Pawn Sacrifice with Tobey Maguire (who will also produce) starring as chess prodigy Bobby Fischer.
The film tells Fischer’s life story leading up to his historic world championship match against Boris Spassky.
Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things) provided the screenplay and will also produce alongside Gail Katz.
Zwick last directed Love and Other Drugs and is attached to helm The Great Wall at Warner Bros.
