Deadline is reporting that actor Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange, Sherlock Holmes) is in negotiations to headline Fox Searchlight Pictures‘ drama The Man in the Rockefeller Suit, based on the book by Mark Seal.
Cumberbatch will portray Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, a real-life imposter who posed as a member of the Rockefeller family, garnering several Wall Street jobs and a marriage along the way. When his con is found out, he risks losing custody of his daughter.
David Bar Katz (The Pest) wrote the screenplay for The Man in the Rockefeller Suit, with Donald De Line (Ready Player One, Going in Style) producing. A search for a director is currently underway.
Cumberbatch will next be seen playing Thomas Edison The Current War, and will reprise his role as Doctor Strange in Thor: Ragnarok and the currently-filming Avengers: Infinity War.
