Jon Turteltaub Heads to Last Vegas

John Turteltaub is likely to direct the long-in-development project, Last Vegas, ComingSoon.net has learned.

First announced in 2009, the film was originally to be helmed by Peter Chelsom and features a screenplay from Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love). It will be produced by Larry Mark (Julie & Julia, Dreamgirls) and Mandate Pictures, with Nathan Kahane (50/50, Juno) executive producing.

The film will follow four estranged male childhood friends from the fifties who reunite in Vegas to finally marry off Billy, the lifelong unmarried playboy of the group. Conflict arrives when both Billy the bachelor and Paddy, the widower of the group, begin vying for the affections of the same lounge singer.

Turteltaub is best known as the director of the popular “National Treasure” films. His most recent film, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, re-teamed him with that franchise’s star, Nicolas Cage.
