At the PlayStation Theater in New York City today, September 7, Sony PlayStation will be briefing members of the press on a number of new PlayStation announcements. The event itself is only open to media, but Sony has also opened the invitation to PlayStation fans to watch live.
You can watch the PlayStation Meeting live stream below starting at 12:00pm Pacific / 3:00pm Eastern. A special episode of the PlayStation LiveCast will air after the presentation.
What do you think will be presented? Expected to be announced are the PlayStation 4 Neo and the PlayStation 4 Slim, while we’re likely to get some PlayStation VR reveals as well.
“It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4,” Sony Interactive Entertainment president and global CEO Andrew House said previously about the PlayStation 4 Neo. “We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle.”
House confirmed that the new system will feature ultra-high definition 4K resolution and richer graphics, and as a result will be more expensive than the regular PlayStation 4 system. He added that there won’t be a problem between regular and PS4 Neo versions of PlayStation 4 games. He also teased the additional hardware upgrades, saying:
“The consumer is attuned to a different cadence of innovation in technology thanks in great part for the upgrades cadence on mobile phones or PCs. We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety.”
