Alejandro Jodorowsky to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Locarno Film Festival

Chilean filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky to be lauded in Switzerland.

You can search high and low, ladies and lads and this writer promises that you’ll never find movies quite like those lensed by iconic Chilean surrealist Alejandro Jodorowsky, the man who amalgamated his love of mime, comic books and cinema and made a slew of unforgettable transgressive works that defied genre and reveled in both the physical and the mystical.

It was announced today that Jodorowsky, the man who gave the world such masterpieces as EL TOPO, THE HOLY MOUNTAIN and SANTA SANGRE will receive the Pardo d’onore Swisscom Lifetime Achievement Award at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

The 87-year old Jodorowsky will attend the fest (which runs August 3-13) and engage in an extensive Q&A on August 12th.

The tireless provocateur recently screened his latest film ENDLESS POETRY at Cannes this year and that, along with the aforementioned cult hits, will be screened at the fest.

Previous recipients of the Pardo d’onore Swisscom Lifetime Achievement Award have included Samuel Fuller, Jean-Luc Godard, William Friedkin, Werner Herzog and many others.
