Scream Factory’s 30th anniversary THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2 Blu-ray features revealed.
Part of Tobe Hoopers legendary three-picture deal with beloved genre imprint Cannon Pictures, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2 was not widely adored upon release. Those expecting another landmark, pitch-black picture like Hoopers groundbreaking original film were confused by the gonzo, gore-fest shenanigans (Tom Savini really lets loose in this one) and shrill pitch of the performances (along with BLUE VELVET, this is the movie that brought Dennis Hopper back from the ether and it also gave us the first major appearance by future horror legend Bill Moseley).
But many understood just what a messy masterpiece it was. And now, its pretty much beyond debate as to how brilliantly the film functions as a black comedy. It’s MEANT to be as funny as it is disgusting.
Certainly, Scream Factory get the buzz on The Buzz and are re-releasing the film as a 30th anniversary 2-disc Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, filled with acres of special features (5 hours worth!), many of them sculpted by the great Michael Felsher, who was instrumental in dragging the film out of the MGM vaults for its first DVD release over a decade ago.
