The Curse of Downers Grove: Easton Ellis-penned High School Horror out in August

Co-written by Bret Easton Ellis (American PsychoThe Rules of Attraction) and director Derick Martini, The Curse of Downers Grove is a high school horror about a town’s seniors fearing for their lives on graduation each year. Anchor Bay has announced an August 21st theatrical and digital HD release for the film, starring Bella Heathcote, Kevin Zegers and Tom Arnold. 

Also hitting VOD, DVD and Blu September 1st, The Curse of Downers Grove is set the titular town, which “looks like your average suburban neighborhood, has a disturbing secret…. For the past eight years, one senior from every high school graduating class has met a bizarre death right before graduation day. And this year, Chrissie Swanson  (Bella Heathcote) has a terrible feeling that she is going to be the one to die. Can Chrissie survive the curse of Downers Grove or will she, like those seniors before her, fall prey to the town’s deadly secret?”

Star Heathcote will also be in next winter’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, as well as Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming high fashion horror The Neon Demon, Co-star Zegers was previously seen in Adam Green’s ski lift nightmare, Frozen. No trailer for The Curse of Downers Grove, just yet. The film is based on the 2001 novel, Downers Grove, by Michael Hornbug.
