It’s surprising it’s taken this long. James Franco, an actor/writer/director/producer infamously known for the amount of work he takes part in will lead Hulu’s 11/22/63, putting him in the lead of a Stephen King series, an author infamously known for much of his output is adapted.
The Wrap reports the casting. Franco will produce alongside J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, while Bridget Carpenter (Dead Like Me, Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) will executive produce and write. The 2011 novel, once intended to be realized as a Jonathan Demme film, concerns a high school English teacher named Jake Epping (Franco) sent back in time partly to stop the assassination of JFK. A new life in the past, and Lee Harvey Oswald, get in the way.
11/22/63 will air as a nine-hour series on Hulu. No projected premiere just yet.
