Anne Hathaway, Neil Patrick Harris and Rodrigo Santoro are set to voice director Carlos Saldanha’s Rio at Blue Sky Studios and Fox Animation. Saldanha directed the $882 million global hit Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs for the two companies.
The 3-D digital animated Rio centers on a nerdy macaw who leaves the comforts of his cage in small-town Minnesota and heads to Rio de Janeiro.
Chris Jenkins (Surf’s Up) and Bruce Anderson (Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who!) are producing. The film is scheduled for an April 8, 2011 release.
