Day 5 of the Sundance Film Festival saw the premiere of Joe Swanberg’s latest movie Digging for Fire, his second movie in a row to debut at Sundance, this one co-written with Jake Johnson, who starred in Swanberg’s Drinking Buddies.
Johnson plays Tim, a man staying at a luxurious house in California with his wife (Rosemarie DeWitt) and son (Jude Swanberg) when he discovers a bone and a gun in a hill behind the house. When his wife goes off to spend time with her parents, Tim becomes obsessed with digging up the backyard to see if he can find more clues to the mystery while having his friends over for a party. While Tim digs with one of the party guests (Brie Larson), his wife is getting close with a man she meets at a bar (Orlando Bloom).
ComingSoon.net had a chance to talk with Swanberg, Johnson and DeWitt the day after their movie’s premiere. While Digging for Fire is still looking for distribution, you can watch our interview in the video player below. (Sorry about the bad sound quality, but this was done in a space that got progressively louder as the interview went on.)
