What is M3GAN about?
M3GAN follows Gemma, an ambitious roboticist, working at a popular high-tech company in Seattle. She is handed over the guardian responsibilities of her niece Cady, as her parents died in a car accident. Secretly, she is working on a humanoid doll named M3GAN, utilizing her company’s resources, since her company had rejected this prototype after a failed lab test. Gemma and Cady struggle to have meaningful conversations and connect emotionally. The former is too busy to spend quality time with her.
However, Gemma decides to complete the humanoid robot after noticing Cady forming a strong bond with a motion capture robot. Upon the robot’s completion, she connects M3GAN to Cady and is impressed by the doll’s abilities to be a caretaker and nurturer. Soon, Cady emotionally connects with the doll and starts detaching from Gemma. Meanwhile, Gemma begins to notice mysterious murders occurring in their neighborhood and becomes terrified by the robot’s changing behavior.
