Gunther Calls Former WWE Champion as His ‘The Final Boss’, not The Rock

Recently, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther gave the title “The Final Boss” to former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. The Rock, who returned earlier this year and turned heel, had also labeled himself “The Final Boss” after joining The Bloodline. However, Gunther believes Brock Lesnar is the true “Final Boss” in WWE, not The Rock.

In an interview with Mail Sport, Gunther discussed the rumored match with Brock Lesnar. He addressed the speculation, stating that he considers Brock Lesnar his ultimate challenge. Gunther said, “Of course, I heard something about it. I always saw Brock as my final boss. I always get portrayed as that, as the NXT UK Champion, the Intercontinental Champion, I was like the final boss of that division, and Brock, for a long time, was the final boss of the whole company. So I always saw myself in my future to be in a similar position to him, and to be that you’ve got to get in the ring with that guy.”

Additionally, Gunther expressed his desire to have a match with Brock Lesnar. He mentioned that the fans’ reaction during their face-off at Royal Rumble 2023 indicates they also want to see the match. He stated, “We’ll see if there’s a chance for it to happen again. I’m more than up for it. How the situation is exactly right now, I’m really not that informed about it, to be honest. I think we had that one face off in the Royal Rumble, the reaction that was there and that was a confirmation for me.”

Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther was planned for WWE WrestleMania 40

The last time WWE saw Brock Lesnar was in 2023 at SummerSlam, where he lost to Cody Rhodes. Although rumors circulated about his return earlier this year, those plans were scrapped. This decision came after Lesnar, who was not directly mentioned in Vince McMahon’s allegations, was suggested.

Lesnar had a match scheduled against Dominik Mysterio at the Elimination Chamber. He was then set to face the former Intercontinental champion Gunther at WWE WrestleMania 40. However, the highly anticipated dream match between the two was canceled. It appears that WWE is keeping its distance from Lesnar until the legal proceedings are resolved.
