Karen Gillan and Zoë Chao have been tapped to lead a new comedy titled Let’s Have Kids!
Per Deadline, Gillan and Chao have been cast in Let’s Have Kids, which is being directed by Adam Sztykiel. The cast of the movie also includes Sam Richardson (Detroiters), Max Greenfield (New Girl), K.J. Apa (Riverdale), Ed Begley Jr. (Better Call Saul), and Mary Steenburgen (Step Brothers).
What is Let’s Have Kids! about?
The film, according to Deadline, “tells the story of lifelong best friends Emma and Phoebe, who decide to try to have their first babies at the same time so they can navigate the Great Unknown of motherhood together, but find their friendship is deeply tested when only one of them gets pregnant.”
Sztykiel is making his feature film directorial debut with Let’s Have Kids! He previously worked on the scripts for 2010’s Due Date, 2015’s Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, 2018’s Rampage, 2020’s Scoob!, 2022’s Black Adam, and 202’s Family Switch.
Sztykiel co-wrote the screenplay for Let’s Have Kids! with Ellie Knaus. He also produces the movie alongside Becky Sloviter.
Gillan is best known for playing Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She’s also known for playing Amy Pond in Doctor Who and Ruby in the Jumanji movies, while she’ll soon be seen in Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck.
Chao, meanwhile, has starred in television series such as Strangers, Living with Yourself, Love Life, The Afterparty, and Party Down, while she’s voicing Nina Mazursky in the upcoming Creature Commandos series. She’s also starred in movies such as 2019’s Where’d You Go Bernadette, 2020’s Downhill, 2022’s Family Squares, and 2023’s If You Were the Last.
Let’s Have Kids! is expected to begin filming later this week. The movie does not yet have an official release date.
