Netflix’s new documentary series Files of the Unexplained investigates a series of baffling phenomena. The eight-part series primarily focuses on encounters that make viewers think about the world around them. While the later episodes are all about mysterious disappearances, the first episode of the documentary series focuses on the Pascagoula Abduction. The episode follows Calvin Parker and one of his friends who were allegedly abducted by aliens in 1973.
On October 11, 1973, Calvin Parker and his friend Charles Hickson went fishing on a river. They claimed they had an otherworldly encounter. As per the documentary, the pair saw a craft approaching the ground. According to the pair, the craft didn’t touch the ground and hovered above the ground. The craft just opened up from one side, and three beings came out of it. The documentary mentioned that two entities went to Hickson, while the third went directly to Parker.
The duo described the entities as three robotic creatures with no necks and hands shaped like claws. They grabbed Calvin Parker and Charles Hickson by the arm, making their bodies go limp. As a result, Parker passed out. The entities then took them inside the craft and checked them thoroughly. Thirty minutes later, they brought Parker and Hickson to the location from where they were picked up and dropped them off.
Subsequently, the duo told the police everything. However, Calvin didn’t feel right about how the police interrogated them. As per Files of the Unexplained, he kept quiet and said nothing about the incident after the interrogation. However, Hickson went on to talk about the incident on several TV shows and became a sort of celebrity.
Is Calvin Parker still alive?
As mentioned above, Calvin Parker didn’t say anything about the incident after the interrogation, while Charles Hickson kept on talking about it. In the documentary, Parker’s wife noted what happened when she saw him for the first time after the incident. She said, “When Calvin got out of the car. It was the first time I had seen him after it (abduction) happened, four days later. I can’t say he ran toward me, but he got to me pretty quickly. We hugged for the longest time. I noticed his mouth was quivering. Just very traumatized, very unsettled.”
In 2018, Calvin Parker finally told his wife about what happened on October 11, 1973. Meanwhile, in 2020, the recording of their interrogation went public and people started believing their stories. The police thought that the interrogation might force them to tell the truth. However, they never changed their stories and kept on saying that they were abducted by aliens. Surprisingly, Calvin had another encounter with the aliens a few years later. However, this time, he spoke freely about the incident, per the documentary.
Parker even went on to write a book about what happened that fateful evening. For years, no witness came forward. In August 2023, Calvin Parker died after a long battle with kidney cancer.

In 2019, a lady named Maria Blair also revealed that she saw strange blue lights. Speaking in an interview with WLOX, an affiliate of ABC and CBS, Blair said, “You’re looking up at the sky, looking at stars, the big dipper and things, that’s when I saw it rise in the sky. Where I saw it come up, the blue light was just right over where they were abducted.”
However, at the time she never thought that she allegedly witnessed a UFO. She added, “We hear this loud water, just something fell in the water, it was a loud splash. The water was just rippling, and when I looked down that’s when it looked like a person in the water. I was looking just right below me.”
Files of the Unexplained is now streaming on Netflix.
