Jake Gyllenhaal has big shoes to fill as Dalton in Road House, a role made famous by Patrick Swayze. Before Swayze died in 2009, Gyllenhaal had the chance to work with the late actor on 2001’s Donnie Darko. In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Gyllenhaal recalled his experience working with Swayze on Donnie Darko and how the Dirty Dancing star supported him from the beginning.
“I knew Patrick Swayze when we made Donnie Darko with your incredible wife, Nancy [Juvonen], who produced that movie,” Gyllenhaal told Fallon. “He was just the kindest, most . . . I mean, he supported me very early on. I mean, him and his wife Lisa, just so sweet, like just always there.”
When asked if Swayze would like the reimagining of Road House, Gyllenhaal smiled and said, “I think he would.”
