Netflix has officially unveiled the North of North cast for its upcoming comedy series, which has just started its production in Nunavut.
Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Maika Harper (Law and Order: Toronto), Braeden Clarke (Outlander), Jay Ryan (It: Chapter Two), Kelly William (Motherland), Zorga Qaunaq, Doreen Simmonds (True Detective: Night Country), and Tanya Tagaq (Thoroughbred) have been tapped to join previously announced leads and newcomer Keira Cooper. Further details about the new cast members’ characters are being kept under wraps.
What to expect in North of North?
In North of North, Lambe is set to portray a young Inuk mother named Siaja, who wants to build a new future for herself. However, achieving this won’t be easy in her small Arctic town where everyone knows your business. Cooper will play Siaja’s daughter Bun.
The series is created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, who are executive producing alongside Miranda de Pencier, Susan Coyne and Garry Campbell. The comedy is being directed by several directors including, Anya Adams, Danis Goulet, Zoe Leigh Hopkins, Lisa Jackson , Renuka Jeyapalan and Aleysa Young, with Adams also serving as an executive producer.
“We’ve already survived a blizzard during prep, so there’s no doubt our amazing cast and crew is ready to shoot a show in the Arctic,” MacDonald and Arnaquq-Baril said in a statement. “Also, a huge nakurmiik to our community of Iqaluit for being so welcoming – we couldn’t do this show without your support!”
