Nao Tōyama plays Kohaku, Suo’s blonde co-worker who plays an arrogant character type at work. Shunsuke Takeuch plays Tokiwa, a college student who is invited to his first blind mixer by his classmate Suo. Shun Horie plays Tokiwa’s childlike friend Asagi, who is invited to the mixer. This gender-norm-breaking story could be interpreted as a bit unconventional compared to similar animes. But as cross-dressing cafés are quite common in Japan, the premise for the plot isn’t unusual.
The women in How I Attended an All-Guys Mixer dress up like men and act more masculine because of their jobs. The anime will focus on a normal heterosexual romance story but with a different twist. Even though the romance genre is quite saturated, this new show will be a fresh breath of air for fans who love romantic comedies.
