Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has not only sparked heated debate over its perceived misogynistic tone but has also managed to set the cash registers ringing. Animal’s Box Office collection for day 7 is $3 million. Despite facing criticism for its content, the film has emerged as a box office juggernaut. Its collection stands at $40.6 million in just the first week.
As mentioned earlier, with Animal’s day 7 collection standing at $3 million, the film continues its dominance at the domestic box office. The total collection of $40.6 million makes Ranbir Kapoor‘s film the fourth-highest grosser of the year, trailing closely behind Jawan, Pathaan, and Gadar 2.
T-Series, the film’s production house, reports an equally staggering worldwide collection. Animal’s worldwide collection is $63.2 million after just six days in theaters. All in all, the film is not only dominating the Indian market but also internationally.
As the film strides into its second weekend, it faces little competition, ensuring a smooth run until the releases of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’ Salaar. Even its initial competitor, Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur, has struggled to match the pace set by Animal. The film earned only $4.6 million in total.
Animal: Tripti Dimri on being a national crush, intimate scenes & more
Amid the controversy surrounding Animal, actor Tripti Dimri, who plays Zoya in the film, has spoken about the intimate scenes and the film’s reception.
In a recent interview with India Today, Tripti shared her experience shooting the much-discussed intimate scene with Ranbir Kapoor. In another interview with ETimes, Tripti addressed the criticism she received on the scene where her character is asked to lick the shoes of Ranbir’s character. She explained, “I wouldn’t go down and lick someone’s boot as Tripti but you know it’s a character that I am playing. In films, you get to explore the bad side of you and that is shown to the world, but does not mean what the person is doing is right.”
In other news, Animal will reportedly make its OTT debut on Netflix.
