School Spirits Season 2 is coming, as The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Paramount+ has ordered a second season of the YA mystery series.
What do we know about School Spirits Season 2?
The move comes just a few months after the series premiered on the streamer, and only two months after it just wrapped up. According to the report, production on School Spirits Season 2 will begin in 2024, with creators Megan Trinrud and Nate Trinrud, as well as showrunner Oliver Goldstick all set to return for the new season.
“We saw how engaged the fans of the show were, and we’re really excited about not only the creative direction of the show [in season one], but the promise of the creative direction we’re aware of in the second season,” Shauna Phelan, executive vp and co-head of Nickelodeon and Awesomeness live-action series and films, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “The audience responding to the show so positively and so passionately made it an easy call for us. We’re very excited to have the opportunity to make a second season.”
The series, which originally premiered earlier this year on the streamer, stars Peyton List and tells the story of her character Maddie Nears, a student who dies at her school and is unable to leave. Instead, her spirit must try and discover who her killer is. The first season ran for eight episodes and was received well from both critics and audiences.
The series is based on the upcoming graphic novel which hails from Nate and Megan Trinrud. It stars Peyton List, Kristian Flores, Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, Rainbow Wedell, Milo Manheim, Josh Zuckerman, and Maria Dizzia.
