Billy Bob Thornton, who recently starred on FX’s acclaimed new series, “Fargo,” is targeting a leading role in Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming political comedy drama Our Brand is Crisis. TheWrap has the news, reporting that Thornton will join Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock for the David Gordon Green (George Washington, Joe) film.
Based on Rachel Boynton’s 2006 documentary and featuring an adapted screenplay by Peter Straughan, Our Brand is Crisis follows American spin doctors competing in the same Presidential election in Bolivia. It was released domestically by Koch Lorber with the following official description:
For decades, U.S. strategists-for-hire have been quietly molding the opinions of voters and the messages of candidates in elections from the Middle East to the South American jungle. With flabbergasting access to think sessions, media training and the making of smear campaigns, we watch how the consultants’ marketing strategies shape the relationship between a leader and his people. Our Brand is Crisis is an astounding look at one group’s campaign to elect the President of Bolivia and its earth-shattering aftermath.
Bullock is also set to executive produce alongside George Clooney and Grant Heslov with Racheline Benveniste and Courtenay Valenti overseeing for Warner Bros.
