Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone are set to star opposite one another in a new film from Woody Allen, Variety reports. Details on the project are, at this stage, nil, but the trade suggests that the currently untitled project will shoot in July and that Sony Pictures Classics is likely to come aboard as distributor.
The new project will mark the second Allen film in a row to star Stone. She appears opposite the likes of Eileen Atkins, Colin Firth, Marcia Gay Harden, and Jacki Weaver in the forthcoming Magic in the Moonlight, set for release on July 25.
Stone is also in theaters now, reprising her role as Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 while Phoenix recently headlined Spike Jonze’s Her and is set to re-team with The Master director Paul Thomas Anderson for the upcoming Thomas Pynchon adaptation Inherent Vice, slated to hit the big screen on December 12.
