According to Deadline, PEN15 star and creator Maya Erskine is officially be making her Star Wars debut as she signs on for a recurring role in Disney+’s highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Further details about her character are still being kept under wraps, but she will appear in at least three episodes. Lucasfilm is currently preparing for the six-episode series’ impending production start this month which is expected to occur in Los Angeles, California.
Erskine is best known for starring in Hulu’s hit comedy PEN15 which she also co-created and co-executive produced with co-star Anna Konkle. For their work on the first season, the duo received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Erskine’s other TV credits include Hart of Dixie, Betas, Heartbeat, Insecure, Casual, Bob’s Burgers, and Crossing Swords.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series sees the return of Ewan McGregor to the Star Wars universe as he reprises his iconic role as the titular Jedi master. The story is expected to take place eight years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, where we last saw Obi-Wan delivering the infant Luke Skywalker to his Tatooine homestead. Further details about the series’ plot are still scarce. Still, it might potentially explore Obi-Wan’s life on Tatooine between Episodes III and IV, which were previously explored in a few Star Wars novels and comics.
The Disney+ series will also feature the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars. The Star Wars alums will be joined by Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Sung Kang (F9: The Fast Saga), Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (The French Dispatch), Simone Kessell (Of Kings and Prophets) and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems).

Deborah Chow will direct Obi-Wan Kenobi from a script written by Joby Harold. Chow, Harold and McGregor will serve as executive producers alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Tracey Seaward (The Queen), and John Swartz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Jason McGatlin, Lucasfilm’s Executive Vice President Production, will serve as co-producer.
