Ewan McGregor is joining Anne Hathaway in David Robert Mitchell’s new movie.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, McGregor has signed on to star in Mitchell’s new movie, which will be released through Warner Bros. Deadline previously reported that Hathway had been tapped to star in the still-untitled movie in March 2023.
Plot details are being kept under wraps; however, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, the movie will be a “family adventure set in the 1980s that involves dinosaurs.” Hathaway and McGregor will both play parents.
J.J. Abrams is producing David Robert Mitchell’s new movie
J.J. Abrams, Hannah Minghella, and Matt Jackson are producing the movie, while Jake Weiner and Chris Bender serve as executive producers. Sheila Walcott and Zach Hamby are overseeing the film for Warner Bros.
Mitchell is known for making 2014’s It Follows with Maika Monroe and 2018’s Under the Silver Lake with Andrew Garfield. He’s also working on a sequel to It Follows, They Follow, which does not yet have an official release date.
McGregor is known for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise. He recently filmed a movie with his daughter, Clara McGregor, titled Bleeding Love, which is directed by Emma Westenberg and will be released on February 16, 2024.
He also stars in Niclas Larsson’s new film, Mother, Couch, alongside Rhys Ifans, Taylor Russell, Ellen Burstyn, Lara Flynn Boyle, F. Murray Abraham, and Lake Bell. Mother, Couch premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2023 but does not yet have a wide release date in the United States.
Hathaway, meanwhile, recently starred in William Oldroyd’s Eileen and Rebecca Miller’s She Came to Me, both of which were released in 2023. She’ll next be seen in Michael Showalter’s The Idea of You, which releases on Prime Video on May 2, 2024.
