Watchmen Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

In the previous episode of HBO’s Watchmen, a mysterious man in a wheelchair called Angela to lead her to Judd’s dead body hanging from a tree. In Watchmen Season 1 Episode 2, Angela investigated Will, the man in the wheelchair, in secret, while the police rounded up the people in Nixonville.

Crime Scene

Angela had taken Will to her bakery and questioned him. He took responsibility for hanging Judd and claimed that he had powers like Dr. Manhattan. Angela gathered DNA evidence from him by giving him a mug of coffee to drink. She received a page and pretended to hear about Judd’s death for the first time. She handcuffed him and kept him in the bakery while she went to the crime scene. Looking Glass told her that he’d suffered. The Red Scare threatened to tear down their statue of Richard Nixon. A riot ensued in Nixonville, and Angela, an initial nonparticipant, beat a man who tried to attack Looking Glass.

Watchmen Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

We learned that Angela had taken in her children when her partner Doyle and his wife were murdered on the White Night. The incident was a coordinated attack against law enforcement that she and Judd had survived.

When Angela arrived home, a man named Andy was on her porch, waiting to see the children, but Cal didn’t answer the door. Angela paid him to leave. When Angela told Topher that his Uncle Judd was dead, he said that he would tell his sisters. As Angela went to visit Judd’s wife, Jane, Topher watched American Hero Story, a movie about Hooded Justice, the first masked vigilante.

At Jane’s, Angela fainted. She had done so to gain access to Judd’s closet. She found a KKK hood in a secret room beyond his closet.

We learned that Will’s father, O.B., fought in WWI. He’d kept a flyer dropped by the Germans directed to African-American soldiers about the injustices they suffer in America that they wouldn’t suffer in Germany. The flyer was what he had written on and put in young Will’s jacket.

Angela went to a memorial for the Tulsa Massacre. She used a feature there to learn Will’s identity. It turned out he was eligible for reparations, derogatorily called “Redfordations”. She learned that Will was her grandfather. Angela put Will in her car, but from the sky came a magnet that took her car, with Will in it, skyward.
