The thought of a Gossip Girl reboot might not be that far off. On Thursday at the Television Critics Association, The CW’s president, Mark Pedowitz, addressed the possibility directly, per TV Line.
“There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet,” Pedowitz told reporters on Thursday. “I don’t know what it would be. A lot is up to Warner Bros. and [executive producers] Josh [Schwartz] and Steph[anie Savage], ’cause you don’t want to do anything without them.“
The CW original series ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2012. While it was never a ratings juggernaut, it had a devoted fanbase and helped make superstars out of leads Blake Lively and Leighton Meester. Lively, in fact, is only just now returning to TV via a series she’s developing with Amazon.
Though the fact that it’s being talked about itsn’t a surprise, as The CW has become home to numerous reboots of late. This includes Charmed, Dynasty, and the recently launched Roswell.
