True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld has joined the cast of writer/director/star Tommy Lee Jones’ upcoming western The Homesman, Deadline reports. She joins an ensemble cast that already includes Hilary Swank, Meryl Streep, James Spader, John Lithgow, Tim Blake Nelson and David Dencik.
The film sees an untrustworthy man (Jones) and a spinster school teacher (Swank) team up to transport three women deemed crazy via ox-drawn wagon across the Western plains.
Steinfeld, whose upcoming slate includes diverse projects like Ender’s Game, Can a Song Save Your Life? and Romeo and Juliet, will play a young girl named Tabitha Hutchinson.
