Shane McMahon, the son of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon, recently sparked significant buzz with WWE’s rival, AEW. Shane McMahon is known for taking huge risks in WWE. From jumping off the top rope to leaping off Hell in a Cell, he has given fans numerous memorable moments over the years in his WWE career.
He was last seen at WWE WrestleMania 39 last year, making a special appearance to face The Miz. Unfortunately for Shane McMahon, it wasn’t his night. At the beginning of the match, McMahon tore his quad, leading to an improvisation. Snoop Dogg, who was already at ringside, stepped in and competed in a short match against The Miz.
Fans have eagerly anticipated Shane McMahon’s return to WWE, but recent reports suggest he is interested in joining AEW. This revelation shocked the pro wrestling world. The buzz started when Conrad Thompson mentioned to Jim Ross that a mutual friend claimed McMahon had reached out to several AEW roster members. Thompson stated that McMahon talked about a possible appearance in the promotion. Now, with Shane McMahon no longer under contract with WWE, fans wonder if Vince McMahon’s son is considering a move to AEW.
Shane McMahon AEW rumors explained
The rumors of Shane McMahon joining AEW generated a significant buzz, but recent reports have squashed the possibility. According to Fightful Select behind paywall, sources within AEW indicate that Shane McMahon’s involvement hasn’t been seriously discussed among the higher-ups. Several AEW talents inquired about McMahon appearing in AEW; however, they were informed it wasn’t being actively considered.
Back in 2022, during Vince McMahon‘s tenure at WWE, his son was accused of trying to take control of the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble to push himself. This led to Shane’s suspension and subsequent release from WWE in February 2022. Vince McMahon reportedly remarked that his son “would never get another pop in the company again.”
While Shane did make an appearance at WWE WrestleMania 39 a year later, the possibility of him appearing in AEW seems unlikely. Recently, even AEW President Tony Khan mentioned that he had never spoken to or met with Shane McMahon.
