WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes recently gave his reasons why he’ll never go against AEW. Cody Rhodes, along with The Elite and Tony Khan, founded AEW back in 2019. Rhodes, alongside The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, serves in the role of Executive Vice President and as an on-screen talent. Despite having a decent tenure in AEW, he decided to leave the promotion in 2022 and return to WWE.
In an interview with the Cheap Heat podcast, Cody Rhodes gave his thoughts on AEW. He mentioned that AEW would not have come into existence without his involvement, leading him to never wish ill upon the company.
He stated, “the narrative changed a lot about my contributions to AEW, and that was very disappointing. There were some people, I’m not going to say their names, they know who they were, who kind of tried to put some propaganda out when I left. There’s a quote in the Young Bucks book about how I was last to the signing. Me, Matt, and Nick are as close as ever. So glad I had them in my career and my life. If we are being honest, AEW does not happen without me. It doesn’t. With that in mind, I could never root against them. It’s like having a kid and they go off to college and they get a DUI or they get in trouble. I’ll always have that in my heart for them.”
While Cody Rhodes has left AEW, he has been undeniably thriving in WWE since his return. He has won the Royal Rumble twice and the WWE Undisputed Championship.
