Becky Lynch has criticized WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns’ part-time schedule. Reigns, who is scheduled to headline WrestleMania 40 on both nights, will team up with The Rock on the first night to face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. On the second night, Reigns will defend his title against Rhodes in the main event.
Roman Reigns, who has been on a part-time schedule since 2022, will pull double duty in Philadelphia this weekend. Additionally, Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes are also scheduled to have matches on both nights.
In her conversation with TaRhonda Thomas of ABC Philly, Becky Lynch discussed the upcoming double duty for WrestleMania 40 involving her husband, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns. She took a dig at Roman Reigns for his infrequent work appearances, suggesting that handling double duty would be particularly challenging for him.
She stated, “It’s going to be hard, but that’s why they’re the champs. For Roman, he’s probably doubling he’s work that he’s done over the last year because he hardly ever shows up to work. It’s going to be real tough on him. It’s going to be a lot hard on him. Cody is used to fighting. Seth Rollins is used to being a fighting champion. I think Roman Reigns is going to have the hard time here.”
At WrestleMania 40 on April 6, Night One, Lynch will face Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s World Championship.
How many matches has Roman Reigns had since WWE WrestleMania 39?
At WWE WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns defended his title against Cody Rhodes on night two. It has been almost a year since WrestleMania 39, and since then, Reigns has competed in very few matches. Following WrestleMania 39, Reigns had a tag team match against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, leading to the Bloodline civil war between The Usos and Roman Reigns against Solo Sikoa. This conflict culminated at Money in the Bank, where Reigns took a pin for the first time in four years. Subsequently, Reigns had a match against Jey Uso at SummerSlam.
Reigns took a hiatus after SummerSlam and made his return in October, engaging in a feud with LA Knight that resulted in a match at Crown Jewel. Following this, Reigns had his next match this year in January at the Royal Rumble 2024. He competed in a Fatal Four-Way against Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and LA Knight. Since WrestleMania 39, Reigns has competed in five WWE TV matches.
However, it’s important to note that Reigns made few appearances on the house shows in between, where he had two matches against Rey Mysterio and one against Sami Zayn. This brings the total number of matches Reigns has competed in to eight since WrestleMania 39.
