Becky Lynch has always been upfront about assessing her fellow competitors. The wrestler recently shared her opinion on former Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. Moreover, she shed light on what she perceived as mishandling during Rousey’s WWE run.
In a candid interview with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Becky Lynch talked about Ronda Rousey’s wrestling abilities. Lynch remarked, “I mean this with respect, but she couldn’t wrestle. Like, what we do isn’t just something that you can have one good match and then, okay, yeah, I’m off to races. It’s a craft and you have to learn your craft.”
She continued, “And you have to be diligent about learning your craft. But everybody treated Ronda like she already knew it because when she first came in she was good in that first bout, but she was working with Kurt Angle, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon — it was a well-rehearsed match, because everyone wanted her to have a good first match. Then it was like, ‘okay she can do this it’s off to the races,’ and that was mishandling her.”
Although Lynch and Rousey never squared off in a singles match in WWE, their paths crossed at WrestleMania 35 in a triple threat match featuring Charlotte Flair. When asked about the match in a recent interview, Lynch hinted that fans had lost interest in the match that was supposed to take place.
Is Ronda Rousey done with WWE for good?
Wrestling fans have been speculating about Ronda Rousey’s future in WWE ever since her departure after SummerSlam 2023. Rousey’s second run in the company began with much at the 2022 Royal Rumble. However, this run didn’t achieve the same level of success as her first one.
Recently, Ronda Rousey clarified her WWE status in a video promoting her upcoming book, Our Fight. Rousey expressed her honest assessment of WWE and her future plans. She stated, “Behind the scenes? How much of an absolute sh*t show it is at the WWE because they can’t hold the story over my head and hold me hostage with my own career. I don’t need anything from them and I don’t intend on going back, so I can say everything that I think and feel while everybody else is still held captive by their organization.”
While Ronda Rousey’s comments may suggest a definitive break from WWE, it’s important to remember that professional wrestling is unpredictable by nature.
