As 2023 comes to an end, wrestling fans are abuzz with speculation about the future of former WWE Superstar Sasha Banks with AEW.
Sasha Banks aka Mercedes Mone, made a surprising debut in NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January. However, her journey took an unfortunate turn at the NJPW STRONG Resurgence show on May 21st, where she faced AEW’s Willow Nightingale.
In a shocking twist, Sasha Banks suffered a broken ankle during the match, preventing her from claiming the newly-created NJPW STRONG Women’s Title as originally planned. Rumors have circulated about Banks potentially crossing over to AEW.
An update from Fightful Select has shed light on Sasha Banks’ intentions to join AEW; recent information suggests that these plans are no longer in progress.
“I haven’t heard anything lately besides that the once working plans for AEW and Mercedes (Monè) are no longer working plans,” said Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp.
Only time will reveal whether Sasha Banks and AEW will rediscover their synergy or if she opts to return to WWE under the guidance of Triple H.
Has Sasha Banks appeared on AEW TV?
Rumors have circulated about Mercedes Mone, fka Sasha Banks, potentially crossing over to AEW. There were also reports of her possibly appearing at the AEW NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 PPV. Unfortunately, she missed the crossover PPV, “AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door,” due to injury.
However, the big question is whether she made an appearance in AEW, and the answer is yes. In August, AEW presented their biggest show in history, “All In,” at Wembley Stadium. She appeared at the “All In” event at Wembley Stadium as a part of the audience.
However, with recent reports suggesting that talks between Banks and AEW are currently dead, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the former WWE Superstar.
