Bob Odenkirk and David Cross return to sketch comedy in W/ Bob & David
Bob Odenkirk (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”) and David Cross (“Arrested Development,” “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret”) are back together for more inspired and absurd sketch comedy in “W/ Bob & David,” the new Netflix original series premiering Friday, November 13 on the streaming service.
In the new series, Bob and David reunite – along with Paul F. Tompkins, Jill Talley, Jay Johnston, John Ennis, Brian Posehn and more of their former “Mr. Show” cohorts – in four all-new 30-minute episodes. After being dishonorably discharged from the Navy Seals, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are back serving our country the way they do best — making sketch comedy.
The original “Mr. Show with Bob and David” aired on HBO from November 3, 1995 to December 28, 1998 and gathered a cult following in the comedy community for its off-kilter, edgy sensibility. Actors such as Jack Black, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Scott Aukerman and Sarah Silverman were featured on the show prior to making names for themselves, and it was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards. The cast followed up “Mr. Show” with a spin-off feature film titled Run Ronnie Run, which the creators were not happy with and went direct-to-DVD. Other attempts to revive the program over the years include an unaired HBO pilot called “David’s Situation,” a stage show titled “Mr. Show Live: Hooray for America!” and a book titled Hollywood Said No!: Orphaned Film Scripts, Bastard Scenes, and Abandoned Darlings from the Creators of Mr. Show.
