A new trailer for Chad Season 2 sets the Roku release date for the Nasim Pedrad comedy series. The series has had a bumpy road prior to making its return.
The show was originally renewed in May 2021 with a premiere date set for the following April. But after being delayed to July of that same year, mere hours away from its return, TBS announced that it had canceled Chad and had no plans to release the already-completed second season.
This comes as part of the channel’s move away from scripted originals. However, Roku ultimately saved the series. Roku also has non-exclusive rights to the first season. Chad Season 2 premieres Friday, January 19. All ten episodes will be available to stream for free on The Roku Channel.

What’s Chad about, and who is in it?
“Sophomore year brings a new set of challenges for 15-year-old Chad Amani. His newfound popularity is under threat, his friendship with best friend Peter is put to the test, and his prepubescent attention is captivated by a new crush, all while Chad continues to come to terms with his cultural identity,” per the official synopsis.
Along with Pedrad in the titular role, the Chad season 2 includes Paul Chahidi as Uncle Hamid; Saba Homayoon as Naz, Chad’s mother; Ella Mika as Chad’s sister, Niki; Alexa Loo as Denise; and Thomas Barbusca as Reid, and Sara Malal Rowe.
In addition to starring as the Persian teenager, SNL alum Pedrad is also the creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner for this single-camera comedy. Oliver Obst, Rob Rosell, Max Searle, and Rhys Thomas also executive produce the series.
