HBO has released the first Winning Time Season 2 teaser trailer for the upcoming return of Adam McKay’s sports comedy-drama. The next installment in the Los Angeles Lakers saga is scheduled to air on August 6 on HBO and will stream on Max.
The video highlights the continued rise of the Los Angeles Lakers and its increasing influence in the NBA. It also previews the pros and cons of Magic Johnson’s skyrocketing career, as well as his ongoing rivalry with Larry Bird.

What is Winning Time about?
“A fast-break series chronicling the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers, one of sports’ most revered and dominant dynasties — a team that defined an era, both on and off the court,” reads the logline.
Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty is written and co-created by Max Borenstein, and Jim Hecht, who are also executive producing. The story is based on Jeff Pearlman’s book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s.
The sports drama stars John C.
