Hacks Season 2 Trailer: Deborah and Ava Go On a Comedy Tour

HBO Max has dropped the official Hacks Season 2 trailer for the highly-anticipated return of the acclaimed comedy, starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder. The series is scheduled to make its return on Thursday, May 12 with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes a week, concluding on June 2.

The video teases the aftermath of Deborah’s failed show, which leads her to go on a comedy tour across America in an effort to save her career. It also features our first look at Oscar nominee Laurie Metcalf’s guest-starring role as a road manager.

“The dark mentorship between legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance and her young, entitled writer Ava continues to evolve as the two travel across the country workshopping Deborah’s new stand-up act,” reads the synopsis.

Hacks is led by Emmy nominee Hannah Einbinder and Golden Globe winner Jean Smart. Returning cast members also include Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Jane Adams, Christopher McDonald, Kaitlin Olson, Paul W. Downs, Poppy Liu, Rose Abdoo, Mark Indelicato, Meg Stalter, Angela E. Gibbs, Luenell, Johnny Sibilly, Joe Mande, Ally Maki, and Lorenza Izzo.

Season 2 will also feature the introduction of new recurring guest stars Laurie Metcalf, Martha Kelly, Ming-Na Wen, and Susie Essman, with Margaret Cho and Devon Sawa set as guest stars.

Hacks is created and executive produced by Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, who are also serving as showrunners. Executive producers are Emmy winners Michael Schur through Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Morgan Sackett.
