HBO Max has unveiled the official Julia trailer for its forthcoming biographical comedy-drama, based on the extraordinary life of iconic chef and TV personality Julia Child. The series is scheduled to make its debut on Thursday, March 31 with the first three episodes, followed by one episode weekly through May 5.
The video, which you can check out below, highlights BAFTA winner Sarah Lancashire’s portrayal of Julia Child as she goes against sexism and stereotypes to get her first cooking show.

The 8-episode series stars Sarah Lancashire (Coronation Street, Happy Valley), David Hyde Pierce (Frasier), Bebe Neuwirth (Madam Secretary), Brittany Bradford (Broadway’s Bernhardt/Hamlet), Fran Kranz (Homecoming), and Fiona Glascott (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
“Julia is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and her long-running television series, The French Chef, which pioneered the modern cooking show,” reads the synopsis. “Through Julia’s life and her singular joie de vivre, the series explores a pivotal time in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural evolution. At its heart, the series is a portrait of a loving marriage with a shifting power dynamic.”
Additional cast includes guest stars Isabella Rossellini, Judith Light, Robert Joy, Erin Neufer, Jefferson Mays, James Cromwell, and Adriane Lenox.

Julia is created and executive produced by Daniel Goldfarb, with Chris Keyser serving as its showrunner. Executive producers are Keyser, Erwin Stoff, Kimberly Carver, and Charles McDougall, with Todd Schulkin set as a consulting producer on behalf of The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts. It is produced by Lionsgate and 3 Arts Entertainment.
