The Roku Channel has debuted the official Slugfest trailer for the Russo Brothers’ forthcoming documentary series, centering around the famous rivalry between Marvel and DC Comics. Originally set up at Quibi, the docuseries will now be available for streaming this December 24, exclusively on The Roku Channel.
“Audiences will leave Slugfest with a whole new understanding of how the rivalry between two creative powerhouses shaped the iconic storylines and characters that fans around the world have come to know and love,” the Russo Brothers said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to partner with The Roku Channel to unpack the fascinating, but untold, history behind the most well-known competition in comics.”

Set to be narrated by Kevin Smith, Slugfest is inspired by Reed Tucker’s nonfiction book of the same name. It will explore the history around the decades-long heated rivalry between two comic-book powerhouses Marvel and DC, who have vied for the larger success across film, TV, and comics with major properties such as Batman, Superman, The Avengers, and dozens more.
Each episode will feature interviews and re-enactments as it dives into the unique story from the companies’ rich and intermingled history that’s created a worldwide superhero phenomenon. This includes the secret crossover inspired by the Halloween parades of small-town Rutland, Vermont, to the history behind the bone-crushing handshake between Superman and Spider-Man.
