Ahead of Rick and Morty‘s upcoming two-part fifth-season finale, Adult Swim surprised fans with a brand new promo, featuring live-action versions of the titular duo. In the 14-second video, we can see Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd, and IT actor Jaeden Martell as they portray new versions of Rick and Morty, who are from the C-132 universe. It’s unclear whether or not this promo will only be a one-time thing or will turn into something more. But, it sure is cool to see Lloyd’s version of Rick Sanchez, a character which was inspired by his iconic Doc Brown character in the Back to the Future trilogy.
In addition, the cold open for episode 5.09 titled “Forgetting Sarick Mortshall,” has also been revealed, featuring Morty as he tries to clean up Rick’s mess on three planets. However, he accidentally messes up with Rick’s portal gun fluid. The series is scheduled to make its return this Sunday, September 5, with the final two episodes.
