Doctor Who currently stars Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, Mandip Gill as Yasmin Khan, and John Bishop as Dan. Whittaker is the first actress to take on the mantle of the titular Time Lord and has been the lead of the series during the past two seasons. It’s still unclear whether or not the upcoming thirteenth installment would be her last.
Season 13 is expected to pick up right after the events of the series’ latest holiday episode “Revolution of the Daleks,” which aired earlier this year. Unlike previous seasons, showrunner Chris Chibnall has confirmed that the upcoming 8-episode new season will now be telling a singular story. The reason on why they’ve changed the format was due to a challenging production schedule caused by the pandemic.

The series, which began broadcasting on BBC America in 2005, follows the Doctor, an alien from a race called the Time Lords whose home planet is Gallifrey. It was created by Sydney Newman, C.E. Webber, and Donald Wilson. Doctor Who Season 13 is executive produced by Chris Chibnall, who is also serving as the showrunner.
