Three seasons, three generations, one elaborate mystery. The newest trailer for the second season of the Netflix German-language horror series Dark triples down on its own intrigue, which sets the stage for three seasons total, one for each of the mysterious cycles of terror that grips the small town of Winden. Dark starts by centering around a missing child, which sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers as they unearth a mind-bending mystery that spans three generations. The series first season followed a teenager struggling to cope with his fatherâs suicide, a police officer whose brother disappeared 33 years earlier, and a police chief caught in the middle.

While the story begins in 2019 but spreads to include storylines in 1986 and 1953 thanks to a little time travel, courtesy of a wormhole in a cave beneath an old nuclear power plant, which is under the management of a wealthy, influential family. During the first season, secrets begin to be revealed that ties all of these families together, and their lives start to crumble as the ties become evident between the missing children and the history of the town and its citizens.
The series was created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, and stars Oliver Masucci, Karoline Eichhorn and Jördis Triebel.
