NBC to Develop a Grimm Spinoff Series With Female Lead

Deadline reports that NBC is currently in the process of developing a new spinoff based off their popular supernatural series Grimm with a female character in the lead. The untitled Grimm spinoff is expected to feature some of the original show’s fan favorite characters while also introducing new characters, new dangers and epic new mysteries.

The new series is being produced by Universal TV and Hazy Mills Productions with Melissa Glenn (Iron Fist) set to write the script. Hazy Mills’ Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner will serve as executive producers along with Glenn. Grimm co-creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf will be the spinoff’s consulting producers.

Grimm ran on air for six seasons that lasted from 2011-2017. The original series was inspired by Grimms’ Fairy Tales and centered around the character of homicide detective Nick Burkhardt, who was portrayed by David Giuntoli. Nick’s life changes when he finds out the he is destined to become a guardian called a Grimm, one who keeps the balance between humanity and mythological creatures.

Grimm was created by David Greenwalt & Jim Kouf and Stephen Carpenter. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner (Hollywood Game Night, Hot in Cleveland) serve as executive producers along with Greenwalt and Kouf.
