The Hollywood Reporter has word that Johnny Galecki and Juliette Lewis will join ABC’s new Roseanne spinoff, The Conners. Galecki will be reprising his role of David, while Lewis will be a newcomer in the role of Blue, David’s girlfriend. Her character was mentioned by David during the lone season of the Roseanne revival earlier this year.
Lewis made the announcement yesterday on Instagram. Her and Galecki had previously worked together in 1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, where they played the Griswold siblings.
The show is a continuation of the Roseanne revival, which launched earlier this year but was quickly pulled after star Roseanne Barr made some inflammatory remarks on Twitter. Barr was fired, and the show was canceled before being re-tooled as a spinoff centering on the Conner family sans-Roseanne.
In June, The Conners was greenlit to series with an order of 10 episodes for fall 2018. The series, featuring John Goodman (“Dan”), Laurie Metcalf (“Jackie”), Sara Gilbert (“Darlene”), Lecy Goranson (“Becky”) and Michael Fishman (“D.J.”) as their beloved Conner characters, is set to air Tuesday nights.
Tom Werner will executive produce, along with Sara Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen, and Tony Hernandez. Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, and Bruce Rasmussen are also writers. The series is from Tom Werner and Werner Entertainment.
The Conners will premiere on ABC on October 16, 2018.
