According to Deadline, co-creator and star of Catastrophe Sharon Horgan is developing another comedy series as part of Amazon’s expanding original programming slate. Horgan will also star in the upcoming series along with her Game Night co-star Billy Magnussen.
The as-yet-untitled comedy centers on a socially awkward, broke, single woman (played by Horgan) who launches a self-help company and recruits a handsome former male gymnast (played by Magnussen) to be the face of it. The new series is part of a first-look deal Horgan and her frequent collaborator, John Hamburg (Why Him?) have with Amazon Studios.
Horgan and her Catastrophe co-creator (and co-star) Rob Delaney were nominated for an Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series Emmy back in 2016 for their work on the series. They lost to Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang for their work on Netflix’s Master of None. Meanwhile, Catastrophe has already been greenlit for season four, which is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in the US in 2018.
Magnussen recently wrapped on the thriller Velvet Chainsaw from director Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler) and will co-star with Jonah Hill and Emma Stone in the upcoming Netflix series Maniac.
