The upcoming TNT adaptation of the acclaimed Snowpiercer is moving full-steam ahead with the addition of Steven Ogg in a recurring role, according to Deadline.
Ogg, known for his work on The Walking Dead as Negan lieutenant Simon and Grand Theft Auto V as psychopath Trevor Phillips, will be playing the role of Pike, a leader of the Tail who used to be a career convict that escaped from prison at the time of the Freeze and acts as a warrior for the people.
Salem’s Iddo Goldberg Is Joining TNT’s Snowpiercer Series
Within the series, Iddo Goldberg (Salem) will portray Bennett, one of the engineers who designed the train and also holds some of the hidden secrets of the train as well. Daveed Diggs (Blindspotting), Jennifer Connelly (Only the Brave), Mickey Sumner (American Made), Susan Park (Vice Principals), Benjamin Haigh (The Conjuring 2), Sasha Frolova (Red Sparrow), Katie McGuinness (Roots), Alison Wright (The Americans) and Annalise Basso (Ouija: Origin of Evil) also star in the Snowpiercer series.
Doctor Strange helmer Scott Derrickson was hired to direct the pilot episode of Snowpiercer. However, Derrickson refused to return for TNT’s mandated reshoots for Snowpiercer over a creative disagreement. On Twitter, Derrickson wrote “The 72-page Snowpiercer TV pilot script by [Josh Friedman] is the best I’ve ever read. The feature-length pilot I made from that script may be my best work. The new showrunner has a radically different vision for the show. I am forgoing my option to direct the extreme reshoots.” Friedman also left Snowpiercer in January over creative differences. In his place, TNT named Orphan Black co-creator, Graeme Mason, as the new showrunner.
TNT hasn’t yet revealed a timetable for Snowpiercer‘s premiere, but it may arrive in 2019 or 2020.
