Shoshanna Stern and Josh Feldman's This Close Renewed by Sundance Now

Shoshannah Stern and Josh Feldman’s This Close Renewed by Sundance Now

Sundance Now, AMC Networks’ premium video streaming service, has greenlight This Close for a second season, created and written by real-life deaf best friends Shoshannah Stern (Supernatural, Weeds) and Josh Feldman (Fridays) who also star in the groundbreaking original relationship dramedy.

This Close, Sundance Now’s first straight-to-series order, explores the relationship between 20-something-year-old best friend’s Kate (Stern) and Michael (Feldman) as they as they navigate love, loss, careers, friendship, and life in LA. The creators and co-stars took to Twitter to celebrate the news with fans:

Stern and Feldman, who also serve as executive producers on the show, said: “Making the first season of ‘This Close’ was a dream come true. We couldn’t have done this without our brilliant team, and are thrilled to dive back into this story. We never anticipated the response to the show from our audience, which was beyond our wildest expectations and is the very reason we get to continue telling Kate and Michael’s stories.”

“We are immensely proud of ‘This Close’ and could not have asked for a better reception to the series’ first season from both the press and our Sundance Now members. Greenlighting the show’s second season was the easiest decision we’ve ever made, and we cannot wait to see where Josh and Shoshannah take Michael and Kate’s stories,” added Jan Diedrichsen, General Manager of SundanceTV and Sundance Now.

This Close is developed and produced by Super Deluxe, which also serves as the studio for Sundance Now Original production. The series will begin production on its eight-episode second season in this summer in Los Angeles.
