Netflix announced today that they have ordered the new comedy series Dead to Me, from writer Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls) and executive producers Will Ferrell (Holmes and Watson, Tag) and Adam McKay (Daddy’s Home 2, LA to Vegas).
Dead to Me is a dark comedy about a powerful friendship that blossoms between a tightly-wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret. The first season has been given a 10-episode order from the streaming site.
Feldman created the NBC comedy series One Big Happy and, besides 2 Broke Girls, also worked on the CBS comedy The Great Indoors. Her other writing credits include The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Blue Collar TV, and various Academy Awards telecasts.
Dead to Me is the latest project that Ferrell and McKay have collaborated on, joining shows like Comedy Central’s Drunk History, Fox’s new series LA to Vegas, and the CBS All Access series No Activity that the duo executive produce.
Feldman and Jessica Elbaum from Gloria Sanchez Productions (I’m Sorry) will also executive produce alongside Ferrell and McKay. CBS Television Studios will produce in association with Gloria Sanchez. Ferrell, McKay, and Feldman are set up under overall deals with CBS Television Studios.
