Deadline reports that Violett Beane will star in the upcoming CBS comedic drama God Friended Me. She will star opposite Brandon Micheal Hall in the hour-long faith-based procedural. The series comes from Alcatraz co-creators Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, director Marcos Siega, Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros.
Lilien and Wynbrandt will executive produce alongside Siega and Berlanti Prods.’ Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie and Joe Morton round out the cast.
The series is described as “a humorous, uplifting series that explores questions of faith, existence and science.” Hall portrays an outspoken atheist named Miles “whose life is turned upside down when he is ‘friended’ by God on Facebook. Unwittingly, he becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him.”
Beane stars as the confident, compelling and quick-witted Cara Weiss who is a leading writer at an online magazine. While she is in search her next big story, “her life takes an interesting turn when she meets Miles” thanks to the friend suggestions from God.
The actress took to her Twitter to express her excitement with starring in the project. Beane is best known for her role Jesse Quick on CW’s The Flash. She also stars on the FOX medical drama series The Resident and will appear in the upcoming Blumhouse horror thriller Truth or Dare, which will hit theaters on Friday, April the 13th.
God Friended Me has no premiere date as of yet.
