Jeanine Mason has been cast in the lead role in The CW’s reboot of Roswell
Jeanine Mason (Grey’s Anatomy, Of Kings and Prophets) has been cast in the lead role in The CW’s reboot of Roswell, according to Deadline. The project comes from Amblin Television and Bender Brown Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Carina Adly MacKenzie (The Originals) will executive produce and write the one-hour drama, based on the “Roswell High” book series by Melinda Metz. The executive producers also include Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Lawrence Bender, and Kevin Kelly Brown, who was an executive producer on the original series.
The synopsis: “After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.”
Mason appears as Dr. Sam Bello on Grey’s Anatomy and is known for her work in Of Kings and Prophets. She’s also appeared on Criminal Minds, You’re the Worst and Archer. She was the winner of Season 5 of So You Think You Can Dance.
