Wisdom of the Crowd’s Richard T. Jones to join Nathan Fillion in The Rookie for ABC
Richard T. Jones (Wisdom of the Crowd) is set to join Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle) in the upcoming ABC series The Rookie, according to Deadline. The light crime drama will also be executive produced by Fillion. The Rookie has gotten a straight-to-series order from the network. The show comes to us from The Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios. Fillion will be working once again with Castle executive producer and co-showrunner Alexi Hawley on the series.
In The Rookie, which is reportedly inspired by a true story, Fillion plays John Nolan who is the oldest rookie cop in the LAPD. He leaves his life in a small town to move to LA to become a police officer. Jones will play Sergeant Wade Grey, the Watch Commander for the station who will be at odds with John Nolan.
Hawley and Fillion will executive produce The Rookie with Mark Gordon and Nicholas Pepper from The Mark Gordon Company as well as Michelle Chapman and Jon Steinberg. The show will be written by Hawley.
Jones is currently starring in the CBS series Wisdom of the Crowd, which hasn’t received a back order. There has been no cancellation notice as of yet. He also appears in the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet and has been seen on Teachers and Criminal Minds?
